Two sixty second instrumentals...

Unread post by dmbguitar718 » Mon Jan 15, 2007 1:54 pm

I put together what I hope to become monthly challenges for the musicians over at ufck.org. This challenge was to create an instrumental with a time limit of sixty seconds. I had fun with it, although I didn't get my third track recorded in time.

That's excellent, Pat. I enjoyed both of them and can easily see those developing into full songs, including lyrics. I don't know anything about mixing/recording but that sounded professional quality. Post the third one when you get a chance.

excellent stuff, definitely need to do something more with those, whether a full song with lyrics or just a longer instrumental

i like tireswings better,

theyre both obsiously really well produced and written, although i would've liked to hear a little more variation on tireswings for the 60 second time limit.

necrophobia was very interesting, but kinda gave me like "weird video game soundtrack" vibe as opposed to a polished instrumental. i feel like you may have overdone the variation on this one a little bit. it feels like you just built up another level at the end of each measure, as though its only purpose was the 60 sec instrumental, whereas i feel as though tireswings could be a chunk of a much larger masterpiece.

overall, very nice work. but you know that

thanks for listening, andy. both are only supposed to be sixty seconds. i can possibly see myself doing something with tire swings, but necrophobia was written solely as a sixty second instrumental, and that's all it'll be.

thanks though.

I liked necrophobia better but tireswing has more potential. It's more listener freindly. It would be nice to hear necrophobia in the middle of a full original as a break from the original song. Or even a secret track.
