You get paid to talk about guitars and play guitars. How is it not worth it?jteggie5 wrote:Sup everyone, i was wondering if anyone knew what kind of discount guitar center employees make. i have an interview today and so far i've heard that it SUCKS to work there, you make minimun wage + commission with draw...just wanted to know if it will be worth it to work there.

1. whats are the tone differences between a fender strat and a gibson les paul.?brian_ok wrote:Just curious, could you name off some of the questions they ask you?
2. what is the difference between a solid state amp and a tube amp?
3. difference between acoustic and electric amp?
4. whats the diff. between a P bass and a jazz bass
all these questions were kinda difficult, especially because im not much of an electric nor do i have any history of acoustic/electric...so they were tricky, but i guess i bs'ed my way through it.

yah seriously. I go in to buy a bag of picks...and they guy types for seriously like 2 minutes on the computer. It's like he's bookin a god damn airline ticket. Then they have to check my recipet when I leave the door and sign...I hate that part of GCBeauford33 wrote:I would hate to work there.
Actually...I hate most of the employees there. It takes about ten minutes to buy some picks. I dig the older guys though. They wont bullshit you as much and if anything, they are always up for a little jam. Good stuff.
yes, that does suck. still, the prices are worth it (maybe not for a bag of picks), unless they type your name wrong or there's a line at the door and you wait 10 minutes.Lbacker wrote:yah seriously. holy geez! im gonna get a job there and sell stuff on the side.. you could make total bank selling stuff to people for like 15%-45% off... depending on how much you get it forbrian_ok wrote:They can buy, or special order, any product for the price that Guitar Center pays. Aka, easily a 40-75% discount on everything. One of the many reasons that I'm working there next summer.
