You get paid to talk about guitars and play guitars. How is it not worth it?

They can buy, or special order, any product for the price that Guitar Center pays. Aka, easily a 40-75% discount on everything. One of the many reasons that I'm working there next summer.

yeah, it's nice. I worked at a private high end music store last year, and I'd imagine that GC is a much different environment. It was very laid back there, I brought my homework and guitar and answered maybe 2 phone calls an hour.

I would hate to work there.

Actually...I hate most of the employees there. It takes about ten minutes to buy some picks. I dig the older guys though. They wont bullshit you as much and if anything, they are always up for a little jam. Good stuff.

I used to think GC sucks. Then I went to a semi-big music store in the suburban detroit area, which was independantly owned, and they were awful.

I went to GC and they sold me a new guitar w/case at the same price this other store was selling it used. And it was a Gibson ES-137.

1. whats are the tone differences between a fender strat and a gibson les paul.?

2. what is the difference between a solid state amp and a tube amp?

3. difference between acoustic and electric amp?

4. whats the diff. between a P bass and a jazz bass

all these questions were kinda difficult, especially because im not much of an electric nor do i have any history of acoustic/electric...so they were tricky, but i guess i bs'ed my way through it.

yes, that does suck. still, the prices are worth it (maybe not for a bag of picks), unless they type your name wrong or there's a line at the door and you wait 10 minutes.

Thats funny, GC is one of the only stores where there is a line to get out.
