the rumors were nothing but rumors and all the hype was purely internet generated. there was no real reason for the fenway shows to be "epic". I've posted this a few times now, but here it is again. I think this is a nice summary of the hype machine that is the internet in relation to the DMB.

Yeh I agree that dave was stretchin it trying to sing that low, but it didn't sound awful. I just don't think we're used to hear him singing that low. Carter has a pretty high voice, though, I'm not sure if that would have sounded better. Maybe he could have sang it an octive higher? Oh well, i don't think it really matters. It was probably only a one time thing.

it sounded like dave was singing very close to what his speaking voice sounds like.

It sounds fine to me, it's just not his usual singing voice, which like someone said, we aren't used to.

that's how it should have been done, the boston people know this song one way and one way only...

well once my internet stopped sucking i finally got to listen to this and i actually like it - then again, i like neil diamond so whatever :lol: and i don't think everyone needs to get that pissed/upset/angry that DMB covered this, settle down, its just a song - i swear people react to stuff like this as if all of BTCS would never be able to be heard again - callllm down
