new original "Familiar Again"

Unread post by Appfro » Sun Jun 05, 2005 2:43 pm

This is one of the few songs of mine that I kind of like. It's seriously simple and strikes me as one of those songs you record in one take and put at the end of an album in hidden song form. i don't know. the people i've played it for seem to like it, but i'd love to hear what you guys think.

no need to listen josh, it's the definition of sappy :)

anyway, go here http://www.myspace.com/mitchmeadows and click on the song "Familiar Again"

thank yees

edit: one more thing. i haven't had the chance to rerecord any of these songs since i've been. i promise everything will be in better quality when i get back to school. i'll work hard and redo everything. so please excuse recording quality. thanks.

nice riff, reminds me of a song in dirty dancing.. hehe

i like it, but i was waiting for you to sing up a bit, not screaming put like ehh a little more feeling in it..
i was waiting for a big chorus after: now when your here again part...

you have a good voice Apps.. nice work
Gravel in your shoes may be diamonds, but it hurts anyway..

Mitch, that was really good. I listened a couple of times and I can't find anything to critique. It's really good. Really sad but good.

Record a better version so that I can put on my ipod.... hop to it. :D

edit: by better i mean, better quality recording.

Wow.. That sucked...

Haha, jk

Cool song, but I agree with Swede and Trippin. It needs more emotion at the chorus, but not screaming.

The sound quality really sucks.. Just do a normalize and add a hiss filter, maybe some EQ and a touch of warm reverb. It will go along way, promise!

OK, I played around with it in Cool Edit a bit.

Lots of limiter, a bit of chorus for warmth, medium reverb for warmth, EQ for bringing vocals up more front.

I almost entirely killed the bass because it contained so much hum. This might not work on your stereo so feel free to increase it, it muds up vocals a lot though.

Oh, I saved it in mono 64kbit mp3 since the stereo did nothing for it so why not make it more manageable?

Keep in mind that the general goal is to bring vocals up more front, hence the guitar sounds really weak when its alone because I cut freqs for it.

Changed the intro and outro. The intro is now slightly fading and the outro is completely changed, should be obvious.

Overall it does still sound really bad, however, its easier to hear whats going on now. Plus the volume got raised a bit in general. This mix WILL hurt your ears more because its sharper and more trebly, keep this in mind.
