no, it just frustrates me when people don't give themselves any credit whatsoever and wholly rely on other people to do everything for them...as someone who's gone through a lot of training as well as someone who teaches, that's just a huge disappointment w/ me in regards to most beginning guitarists. It's the single most reason why most of them ever move past the mediocre stage.wkpggrvn2001 wrote:you give off such a negative energygcom007 wrote:people need to learn to not rely on others so much...this is about as easy as music gets...atleast TRY to develop your ears!!!

now that I've pissed everyone off, I have to completely throw everyone off by all of the sudden becoming an incredibly productive and insightful member of the board so none of you know what to think...this is stage two...this is nothing new...there is nothing new under the sun...

I wasn't bashing for helping, I was bashing for not helping. I am only pointing out that the request was for a tab. There was no request for someone to give the usual "learn it by ear" unhelpful response. I've noticed these kind of posts are plauging these boards, which were meant to help people....not shame them into becoming as good as you may be.If you feel so strongly about it, take your own advice. Bashing someone for helping out is less helpful and relevant than the help Davy gave. Dick. I agree that he should take 5 minutes and learn the song by himself, it isnt gonna be much harder than reading a tab and he'll actually improve. You already have the chords. I dont have a copy to tab it from anyways but its a whole 30 seconds long and doesnt involve anything even remotely difficult if I remember right.

To be fair, learning to play tunes by ear comes after a time of playing and being familiar with guitar. I do agree that people should try learning some stuff on their own. On the other hand, we know nothing about the poster's guitar experience and he was simply asking for a tab. He very well could be a beginner that just want's to work on a simple song. Hell, he might have even tried learning it by ear then asked for the tabs.
I understand your point. There is no arguing that it is not valid in a different context. My point is that this isn't the "tell people to get better at guitar" board. It's a board where people ask questions about Dave's guitar. There was a quetion that requested a tab. He got the usual unhelpful response which I consider to be a bit insulting if he honestly couldn't get it. Lets try to remember what the point of these boards actually are. Simply telling him to learn it himself is something he could accomplish without this website.briguy945 wrote:

Dear *insert name here*,
In the future when someone asks for help or a tab for a particular song, You have two options:
Option # 1: If you dont know the tablature and can't help the person out, Don't post in the thread.
Option # 2: Direct the person to the place of the tab or if you are kind, host the tab yourself.
The option of begin a pompous ass (option # 3) has been removed. Therefore, you will no longer be able to tell them to try to learn by ear or figure it out themselves.

Okay. I guess some people really don't know how to act like mature adults and require intervention in nearly every thread.
Davy didn't have a tab for the song requested, but he did give him the chord progression, which is more than any of you arguing about it have done.
Please refrain from simply posting "Learn it by ear, noob" (which Davy did NOT do if you guys would take your heads out of your own asses for long enough to realize that). It's simply not helpful. If they could, they would. More importantly, please don't turn every thread asking for help into 3 pages of absolutely ridiculous arguing claiming that you're trying to help the OP when in reality you're doing the exact opposite.
Thanks.
