Suggestions...
I'm looking to branch out and start writing my own stuff... Umm any suggestions? Any inspirations that worked for you? Anything just want some suggestions or comments of any sort. Thanks Everyone

Any don't worry if your songs all sound like shit at first, thats always the way it is. And keep a tape recorder handy so you can record your ideas without forgetting them.

lyrics first. definetly lyrics first. then build a progression, then converth that progression to barre and use the barre nots as a scale for your oicked part and soloing. have fun

I think it's different for everyone.
I write poems and well my poems are comprised of about 25 crappy poems with bits and pieces that I actually like out of the 25 crappy poems.
Some of the best things I've come up with lyrically have been while strumming and thinking and then writing down bits and pieces here and there.
it's neat to find a process. I'm not a very good guitarist so the lyrics are generally first with me.
do we have a lyric area at this site?
