I always play it normally for the intro and verse, but use open G,D,C chords for the other part. Then I go Howie Day style with the barre chords on the jam with hammer-ons and stuff.

thats what i do for the verse.i have my friend do the e and a string bass notes and the 7, 8 on g and b

Oh, that's cool. Hope I didn't sound like a snob before. I'm not of the school of "Must Play DMB Songs Exactly Like Dave Does" LOL!

EDIT: BTW, I play the intro similar to what you do except for the Emsus and D chords, I'll try that tonight. The muted strings must sound nicer than the open strings in the open chords I was using.

The beginning of this song is a little tough for a lazy player like myself anyway. :wink:
