thats what i do for the verse.i have my friend do the e and a string bass notes and the 7, 8 on g and b

EDIT: BTW, I play the intro similar to what you do except for the Emsus and D chords, I'll try that tonight. The muted strings must sound nicer than the open strings in the open chords I was using.
The beginning of this song is a little tough for a lazy player like myself anyway.
