Some songs don't call for a groove. Sounds like you're describing a punk or a metal line-- not the most groove-oriented music. Trying to play a Motown groove over a hardcore punk song wouldn't quite work.

true. but then to me it seems like punk/metal aren't the best kinds of music either.

true. but then to me it seems like punk/metal aren't the best kinds of music either.
It depends what the song calls for. I sure hope Stefan comes up with a bass line just like that. Then again, for all you know, it could be a great song.

but is it so irrealiztic. I mean Carter is my drumming god and he plays crazy-easy beats on some songs. Beats that you learn as your first actually drum set experience. I dont mind.

flea does more than that

true, aeroplane is mostly octave stuff, but check out, under the bridge, californiacation, around the world, naked in the rain(check out the solo there...very cool)...simple is not necessarily bad
