1. stay in tune better/best
2. are put together as good or better than any guitar
3. have gold plated electronics to help eliminate unwanted noise and help transfer frequencies

so now ive come to conclude it is cheaper to just buy the cheapest model you like looking at(i.e. epiphone les paul or squire strat or whatever) and then get like 400 dollars worth of work done on the electronics, etc. and youre guitar is just as good as any? sounds fishy to me
they do NOT stay in tune better, it is impossible for a guitar with a floating bridge to stay in tune better than a guitar that has strings through the body

this is true, but id still never buy an epi.
Not even a Casino (which I am getting)? What about any Eilite lines? What about an Eilite Casino? Those are high and good quality.

yeah..im real interested in that guitar too. the Epiphone Elite Casino. its a real nice guitar. i think epiphone is top of the line with hollowbody and semi. atleast what i hear. also alot of artists that have hollowbody's have epiphone. (vince gill, jedd hughes) only people that come to mind.

If you go buy a new Fender (even the American ones) you're doing yourself a disservice.

Go find a high end guitar shop and get a vintage Strat instead. Even if it's a bit more money (though I'm not totally sure), it's worth it as the guitar is superior in every way.

If I was serious about an electric because I played live, there's no way I'd even consider a modern Gibson/Epiphone/Fender. I'd go vintage and perhaps replace the pickups.

I hate, hate Fender.

Whether or not the Les Paul's pickups are plated depends entirely on how much money you're willing to drop.

And my Gibson needs to take a rough beating before it even begins to go out of tune.
Stay with me, safe and ignorant.

My Studio is a '01. It sounds and plays great. I have never had a problem with it. Everyone who plays it loves it. Also, I really like the new Standards with the new necks. I prefer my Studio to the Standard, but the new Standards with the new necks and a few more things is very nice.

Wow, some interesting 'facts' here :)

I'm a mod on the Les Paul Forum, check it out:

http://www.lespaulforum.org

I've owned a lot of Les Pauls. They are great guitars for getting the Les Paul sound. Guitars are tools just like a hammer or a screwdriver. Arbitrarily claiming that 'screwdrivers suck and hammers rule' is shortchanging yourself as a musician. Get as many cool and unique instruments as you can in order to create as many cool and unique tones as possible. Artists don't paint with just one color, why should you limit yourself as a musician?

Just MHO, of course :)

Teles, ES-XXX, Les Pauls, and Strats are totally different sounding guitars, none are "better then the other" its all preference just like the never ending Taylor vs Martin or Dave vs JM. People should learn to respect each others opinions a bit more, and uhhh maybe make a better argument then "Fenders suck" because I dont see those wasteful posts doing anything positive, just MO of course.
Viva la DMB
