Question about fretboard cleaning
Question about fretboard cleaning
I recently inspected my guitar and saw that i let a whole hell of alot of shit build up on my fretboard, so I'm wondering what is the product of choice for cleaning the fretboard. also if you can give prices along with the various products i would appreciate it. Thanks ya'll

i just use a rag and some Old English Lemon Oil. works wonders. that's really all you need.

that's not good, it will cause more buildup and gunkiness. maybe you have a sealed fretboard but most guitars have exposed wood and that's just not good.HendrixWS wrote:I just use normal guitar polish
lemon oil will clean and protect. but if it's really bad (like years of guitar polish buildup) you can use alcohol to clean it up, but just wipe it on and then rub it off. and put oil on right away cuz the alcohol will dry out the fretboard and that will lead to cracks.

Incase you have a martin, their website does not recommend you use lemon oil.

We do not recommend using lemon oil on our fingerboards. The acids in lemon oil break down the finish of our guitars. It may also aid the corrosion of the frets and lessen the life of the strings.
