I'm taking it that you're just starting, but if not oh well
Like Washburn said, just experiment until you find something you like, yes, D'Addario's and Exilirs are highly spoken by mostly everyone on here, but if find something else that tickels your fansy, then go for it. Everyone likes different things, Just find something that fits you, and you'll be on the fast track to success

There are tons of pages of arguments on the site already. Just search strings and you should find more than you want to know.
If your friend is already dead, and being eaten by vultures, I think it's okay to feed some bits of your friend to one of the vultures, to teach him to do some tricks. But ONLY if you're serious about adopting the vulture.

The Fender DG24 uses light gauge phosphor bronze strings. Now as to which light strings, get different ones each time, then remember which ones you liked the best. I like D'Addario's.

"Thank you everybody so much again for tonight. We hope you had a good time with us. We're kind of relaxed and y'all hopefully y'all relaxed too. This is beautiful humidity. We enjoy it and everybody take care of yourselfs. Muaha..." DM
