I notice you continue to strum the top four strings. However when you strike the 2nd fret on the a string, how do you continue to hold the 2nd fret d string. I tried switching back from the a to the d but the note doesn't ring that way. Any help would be appreciated.

you don't continue to fret the d, you use your index finger to fret 2 on the A
B+P by offer only...thank you

yeah, but immediately after that the d has to be fretted again for the strum

leave it open and keep your index fretted on the A
B+P by offer only...thank you

just bar the two strings with your index finger

no thats the version dave plays when he is supposedly tired of the stretch of playing it the other way

From what myonlybliss put up, Speeny is right. When you go to that Tab it shows that he doesn't have the the D string fretted when he has the A string fretted. And yes, that is what Dave plays when he gets tired from the stretch. And now to agree with Matty, you just don't fret the D string, simple as that. Making this way to complicated my friends ;-)
