Help with album version Crash!

I notice you continue to strum the top four strings. However when you strike the 2nd fret on the a string, how do you continue to hold the 2nd fret d string. I tried switching back from the a to the d but the note doesn't ring that way. Any help would be appreciated.

you don't continue to fret the d, you use your index finger to fret 2 on the A

leave it open and keep your index fretted on the A

From what myonlybliss put up, Speeny is right. When you go to that Tab it shows that he doesn't have the the D string fretted when he has the A string fretted. And yes, that is what Dave plays when he gets tired from the stretch. And now to agree with Matty, you just don't fret the D string, simple as that. Making this way to complicated my friends
