Help with Pay for What You Get

Unread post by Gombo » Wed Jan 29, 2003 2:00 am

I love this simple song but I'm having problems playing it. Is the tab here correct? When I use this tab it doesn't sound totally accurate. It could just be me but can someone point me to an accurate tab. No offense to anyone here.

for the most part the tab is right...
instead of:
E:-9\10--8---------------------------9\10--8-------------------------
B:-9\10--8---------------------------9\10--8------------------------ <---3(1on8)
G:-9\10--9---7--7-----------5---5--9\10--9---5---5---5----7--7-- <---2
D:------------7--7------8----5---5--------------5---5---5----7--7--
A:------------5---5-----8----3---3--------------3---3---3-----5--5--
E:-----------------------6----------------------------------------------
i play:
E:-9\10--8---------------------------9\10--8-------------------------
B:-9\10--8---------------------------9\10--8------------------------ <---3(1on8)
G:-9\10--9---7--7-----3-----5---5--9\10--9---5---5---5----7--7-- <---2
D:------------7--7------3-----5---5--------------5---5---5----7--7--
A:------------5---5-----1-----3---3--------------3---3---3-----5--5--
E:---------------------------------------------------------------------

and the rest of it is here: http://www.geocities.com/jimih1/uttad/pfwyg.html

thats the way i play it and it sounds for the most part correct

peace...

the tab on this is correct. except instead of playing this:
E:-9\10--8-
B:-9\10--8-
G:-9\10--9-
I don't play the high E string:
E:---------
B:-9\10--8-
G:-9\10--9-
good, and you?

DMBFreak's way is EXACTLY the same sounding as mine. The only difference is he moved the D power chord down a string. Dave plays it on te 8(not that it's better to do it that way...just saying what Dave does). That tab is 100% correct except for maybe that first slide...which it could be played 2 different ways

I guess I should have said I'm at work and away from my guitar. I've actually not ever tried it that way, jared. Now that I actually look at it, it's the same. Guess I should look closer at posts.
Peace,

e--8->--10-----8-----
b--8->--10-----8-----
g--9->--10-----9-----

Is the way that sounds best for me...Jason and I have both agreed on this one amongst ourselves...don't flame it :?

Thanks. What do they mean by "Entire song is played with thumb(Assenting the bass notes)"? I just play the three notes all at the same time with my thumb, index finger and middle finger. My only problem now is that it's hard for me to figure out the chord changes with the lyrics.

Thanks

Gombo

i am telling you all....jesus christ...

he doesnt play the high e......EVER...just listen to daves guitar, you people need to differentiate the two guitars being played....he doesnt play the high e.

this is EXACTLY how he does it:

E:-----------
B:-9\10--8-
G:-9\10--9-

the rest of the tab on the site is right...OPEN UP YOUR EARS!!! just kidding.

Damnit ok, fine....here is a clip...there you go!!!! listen to both ways, the first way is correct, the second way is NOT correct.

john, the song would be soooo much easier if you played it right.

I bar the high e & b strings with my index, use my middle finger for the g sting, and slap (10's) with my ring finger :)

technically i dont use the slide either, i use a hammer on, i bar the first "chord" then hammer on the 10 chord, and trust me, after listening to it over and over again, thats the way dave plays it, listen to the beginning on any live concert or under the table, its there, ya just gotta listen :D

peace
