A Newbie Question

Unread post by Double_J » Tue Mar 13, 2007 10:40 pm

I am currently teaching myself to play the guitar and have a basic question on reading tabs. In the tab below, what are the numbers outside of the strings at the bottom?

Intro/Verse

E:------------------------------------------------
B:------------------------------------------------
G:------------------------------------------------
D:---------8-------6-------5---------------6------
A:-----6-------4-------------------8---4----------
E:-4-------------------8-------6---------------8--
1 2 4 1 2 4 1 2 4 1 2 4

Please be gentle! lol Thanks!

Awesome site btw!

Satellite wasn't the first song I learned, but I did fiddle around with it when I first started playing guitar. I think it is a good song for a begginer to mess around with, for finger stretching purposes... but I agree don't get frustrated if you can't perfect it.

It sounds easy to play cause it's just playing individual notes. Then you realize that the stretches will break your hand and your spirit

honestly...start with crash. as gay as you might think it is...it's a great starting point. it'll stretch teh shit out of your hand, and will really help you work with strumming.
