sounds like you drew out the guitar part on the verse a little longer, so it's good that you're putting more originality into it, but it slows it down, and at times the verse sounds a little off, especially at the beginning of the song. you seem to pause a little too long, and the transition back to the beginning of the verse is a little off. the transition into the chorus is also slow. i prefer damien's guitar part in this case, just because it flows a lot better. i didn't like the change you made with having "cannon...ball" drawn out. it just doesn't seem to work in this case.

at about 3:38 there was a bit of a hiccup in the guitar playing.

as for your voice, it's pretty good. very similar to rice's, which is a huge compliment on your part, but there doesn't seem to be much use in dynamics. the emotion seems to come from the pauses, and i think you could work on putting more dynamics into it, especially towards the ending choruses. "so come on courage" at the end is a little weak and a lot of the emotional impact is lost.

other then that, it was most excellent, but i still think it could be a million times better. right now it's moving too slow and there's not a lot of emotional force, and after hearing damien's version so many times it's hard to adjust to it being played too differently, so i may have been a bit biased/nitpicky. there's always room to improve, though, and i hope this helps. :)

7/10 chopsticks.

This sounds really good. Your voice is a little low in the mix but I can still hear it. Your voice sounds great, alot like Damien rice and the guy from five for fighting. Good solid guitar work, nothing flashy, but thats a good thing. I think this is just a great cover.

Thank for the replies everyone. Good to see that people actually listen. A for Isaac's comments...he is right on most of the points, except one...the version i have is Damien live and yes it is much slower than the cd version. Anyway, I'm going to redo it with more emotion and re-post. Damn I love this song!! Take it easy everyone!

yeah, it is slower, but in some cases, yours was a little too slow. hehe. i'm looking forward to hearing the re-post, though. what you have is pretty damn solid already. nice to know there are damien fans on...is he coming anywhere near you amongst his newly announced dates?
