HD28-V

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I've been out of the loop for awhile. Does Dave ever break out his old HD28-V anymore?

Yep. I believe he did so at the recent Farm Aid. I also think he did so at Abbey Road.

Thanks. It looks like he's playing the HD28-V here.

Seeing stuff like that makes me wonder if we'll ever see his Chet again.

Not to pick a fight, but just commenting (ranting) on a common sentiment here.

The chet. I honestly do not understand why people still like that thing. It was a twangy overpriced synthetic piece of crap. Which is probably why dave stopped using it. Solid body acoustic? What? gimmick. absolutey no low end, almost banjo like. It sounds like the guitar setting on a keyboard. albeit it cut through, ok fine, but in this case that wasnt a good thing.

It also helped to define the DMB sound in the early years. I personally do not miss it, but I do get a little nostalgic whenever Red Rocks or any other pre-2000 show pops up on the iPod. So, I can completely understand the sentiment. A part of me thinks that longing for the Chet is just longing for what DMB was back in that era...

No fight picked, I understand completely what you mean. Some people like the thing more than others.

I think part of it is the longing for the old DMB again. But I, in all honesty, did quite like the sound that it gave. Granted, in the wrong hands it becomes a weapon of deafening proportion, but Dave just made the thing work. I got one, to be honest, because Dave used one, and because it was unique. Now I play it because I found the setting between it and my amp that I love the punchy sound.

I just think it'd be nice to see that old fire that was DMB. They are still playing great music all the time, but watching old videos of DMB, they just seemed a bit more alive at times.

I wonder why he breaks out the HD28-V when he could play his DM3MD? Perhaps he likes the sound better?

Did i see wrong, or was that his DM3MD? It looked like it had the three piece back to it when the tech handed it to him.. may be just me.
We should route them over Lake Michigan, avoid killing innocent people.

Looked like the two piece back to me when he flipped it around. Looks like the plain HD28-V headstock and rosette. The DM3MD is much flashier looking.
