quick question, how do you play a chord like

do you bar on 1 and use the other three for the 3s, or is there a better way, i just find it hard to keep from muting the Estring on 1

its ok to mute the Estring on 1. I don't think Dave plays that full chord on that song. I just play this x-1-3-3-x-x. since its so quick and all.

you can play it like that
but its much much much easier, once you know how, to bar the DGandE strings with finger 3, much like you bar a simple A chord with fingers 1 or 2. playing it this way also gives you the extra leverage (did i spell that rtight?) on the neck that you need to push hard enough with finger 1 to get a good sound on the high E

you can also use your pinkie to bar those 3 strings, but i find it much easier with the ring finger

for some reason i can do the simple A chord with just my pointer finger...my joint flexes i guess, but i couldn't do it with my ring finger, it just doesnt flex like my pointer, so that type of barre chord i just have to barre it with my pointer and use the other 3 fingers for those notes...
