I dont know it but your chances of someone telling you might be better if you post it in the guitar discussion area.

Code: Select all

E-----------------------------------------
B-----------------------------------------
G--12---12---12---12---12---12---12---12--
D--10---12---10----9---10---12---10----9--
A---8---10---10---10----8---10---10---10--
D------------10----9-------------10----9--
..is what I used on the crush cover contest. And I don't think it sounds too great solo. And in case you don't realize it, land your pinky on the 12th/G and leave it there.

im pretty sure he plays an F, then a G, then a C, then a b thingy.

Code: Select all

E--0
B--3
G--0
D--0
A--2
E--x
then he does a little walk down, im not sure/could never figure out what he did right there so i just do a walk down starting at C on the A string and go

Code: Select all

A--3--2--
E---------5--3
right back into the F

after watching Storytellers, im 99% sure tim isn't playing in Drop D. im almost positive he's in standard.

i think he's in D.....he goes to town on some chord and stums like a mofo, right before a chorus, and i swear the open top string is low. not sure

I take every gif I watch (which is A LOT) with a humongous grain of salt. But I don't let that grain of salt get into my eye and blind me to whatever truth can be found in what I'm watching. He is not any worse than any other poster here, and the people who claim he is just don't know what they're talking about. The demonization has gotten ridiculously out of hand.

if you'll remember, crush doesn't have any open D's in it. dave never hits the open D...when dave plays the 2xx32, in standard it would be 0xx32 which may make it sound lower than it is. it wouldn't make any sense that timmy would play an open D, it wouldn't sound right. also, when dave plays the 557 in "lovely lady" timmy is clearly grabbing a regular G and sliding up it up...he wouldn't be able to do that if he were in D. he goes 320003 and slides to a 540005 then back to the regular G. check out the storytellers video, it's the best way to see.

Tim IS in standard, and no, it sounds horrible solo. My best bud and I play it like the one on storytellers...if I get ambitious I might make a recording so you can listen, though it means you'd have to hear me sing ;)
