Question to all who play Dave?

Unread post by just42night » Wed Jan 22, 2003 12:27 pm

#1) Most diffucult to play and easiest to play?

#2)Most fun to play?

For me, Tripping hard, Let you Down easy.

Oyea, on the Tim and Dave Luther cd,
what is Dave playing when they start to jam 5:30 into the song? cords and strumming pattern?

When the music stops there for a sec. does he say "light your pipe"? you have to turn it up to hear it?

#1) The Stone is the hardest -you have to concentrate the most to keep rhythm and hit the right string(s)

Crash Into Me is the easiest - I can do it in my sleep, there's very little motion and pretty much only one section for the entire song and the rhythm is straight forward.

#2) They're all fun for me at different times. Warehouse is probably the most fun, although its similar to The Stone for the reasons I mentioned.

ok what song are you talking about on the L@LC c.d.?? :?
good, and you?

I don't really find the songs that hard BUT the one I had the most trouble with was the Stone...took me longer than the others.

Easiest (for me) is I'll Back You Up.

THe most fun to play (for me) is Halloween...it's real easy and is fun to belt out as loud as you can (regardless of how bad you sound)

Peace,

for me, the verse of tripping billies is the hardest but the chorsu and intros of it are the easiest, so i guess grey street is also easiest, since its the same chords

most fun for me would be lover lay down
i love that song
the chorus is so fun to play
everyone thinks its super had but its quite easy for me for some reason
same with jtr
oh ya thats another fun one to play
Everybody always asks me how she's doing. Has she really lost her mind? I said "I couldn't tell you, I've lost mine."

I could play and sing the stone in about 2-3 days of work. Although I'd have to say You Never Know is the hardest. Especially to try to sing at the same time. It's damn impossible.

The easiest would have to be Jimi Thing or WTWE. I heard Dave say once that the reason they always soundcheck WTWE is cuz it's nice and easy and relaxing.

The most fun changes. Right now i'm in a rut and can't find anything fun to play. They get monotonous after too much playing. I'm sure if I had a full band to play with it would be quite different.

took me a good solid 5 months :) and I play it often to keep it fresh. I guess everyone's perception of "getting a song down" is different and everyone learns at different rates and learns in different ways. Like some people work on several songs at a time, whereas some put all their time and effort in to getting one song down. I do both sometimes.

I got it in one afternoon...

but that was very recently. Hadn't tried playing it until being on these boards and seeing how everyone said it was so hard...

yeah when I learned it, I was just a beginner to begin with, so. If you're as advanced as you, I guess it wouldn't take that long. But I'm anal when it comes to playing Dave. If it doesn't sound pretty much exactly like Dave than I'm not happy with it. so I guess I'm not happy with most of my Dave songs :)

for me...by FAR the easiest is The Song that Jane Likes (nothing but straightforward easy chords).

the hardest...Crazy/Captain--- i still find that a bitch, but im sure ill get in the next few days if i just stick to practicing them. now THATS a problem because i have an attention span thats just as short as a peanut's.

Well, I've never tried singing The Stone, so I don't have it like that. I guess I could figure that out if that's what you mean. But I definitely have the guitar part down.

oh man
if you think you never know is hard on guitar, you should try it on drums
the timing is so whacked
