The Stone

So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

The Stone

Unread post by Swiftly_Slowly » Thu Jan 23, 2003 12:35 am

Hey all, Im new to the site, and was just wondering something. Does others hands hurt anywhere remotely as much as mine does while playing The Stone?

I feel like someone just crushed my left hand with a mallot. Yikes. Sure is fun to play though. I guess I'll just have to get used to it....seems like they all hurt.

it hurt me for a long time when i first learned it because i wasnt very good with my pinkie
after lots of practice though, the pain went away
it was a pinkie issue for me
is it a pinkie issue for you?

Yeah, my pinky finger hurts a bit. But the muscle in between the index and pinky finger is burning like mad.

I got the song down pretty good now, but it is so tough to play and sing at the same time I cant believe it. Just downloaded a great video that is helping a ton.

try playing the brigde in between the chorus and the verse

this one
A----7-----5------8----
E--5----8------6-------

does it hurt while playing that? if you play with finger 1 on fret 5, 2 on 6, 3 on 7 and 4 on 8, the way its supposed to be played

id say that's a good sign. your hands will get stronger, it wont hurt anymore, and you'll be a better guitar player. try playing the whole song through, it'll be good for you.

I agree here. It will hurt and hurt for a long time, hey its like working out. but your hand will get stronger and you'll be able to play anything for hours and your hand may feel tired after songs like the stone but the pain won't be as bad or last as long.
good, and you?

I learned Billies first so Stone wasn't that difficult hand position wise.
