Videos from the latest coffeehouse...

Unread post by mangold » Thu Mar 01, 2007 10:11 pm

the person recording was doing a pretty horrible job in the beginning, they didnt give us any time to do a soundcheck, so my vocals are too low and my buddy's guitar is too low.

there are some very bad falsettos in here, most are on purpose, but not all of em....

lemme know what you think.

I listened to Watchtower. Not bad, I was bored about halfway through though. Your lead guitar player needs to do something else other then barre chords for 4 minutes. Change it up, keep me interested.

Listened to Under the Bridge and it sounds good!

In terms of playing, maybe your friend could do something different from you, to "fill the song" better. Maybe octave below, or treble fingerings, idk...

Random movie quote to make you seem hip and "with it": As long as there's, you know, sex and drugs, I can do without the rock and roll.

Pretty good, my only problem is that it seems like you are trying to play too loud. Strumming to hard and singing too loud in an attempt to drown out the asshole talkers. My feeling is that people are going to talk regardless and if you try to play over them your performance will suffer and people will want to tune you out and talk more! So just play softer, those who want to listen will move forward and those who don't will go back.

Im not knocking the performances at all, they are well executed but in the future dont try to play over the crowd. Shit, wait till you play in a bar :D

FREEEEBIIIIIIRD!
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

well, i suppose that was worded incorrectly. they werent bad on purpose, but i knew they were going to be bad and chose to do them anyway, for entertainment value.

if i could sing them well, i would.

thanks for the comments guys:

I see what you are saying about playing too loud, i wasnt doing it on purpose, i just get excited... i should work on that.

In some of the performances there seemed to be a few vocal parts that didn't seem right, I it's possibly because you don't notice because the speaker for your voices seems like it's infront of you. and towards the audience, it really helps to have a moniter facing you as well or an earpeice so you can hear your notes. Also it did seem like you're trying to drown out the talkers. but overall it was good.
