Who's left?

Unread post by MountainDewser » Tue Feb 20, 2007 4:50 pm

I play mainly acoustic guitar. I listen to dave of course, john mayer, jason mraz, and ben harper. I know and can play layla by eric clapton, its hard for me to get into his other music. I can play every song by dave, and the good ones by john mayer. Jason mraz isn't very difficult, and neither is ben harper( im not going to learn the lap guitar). I just dont know where to go to get my acoustic fill anymore. Ive been playing #41 everyday FOREVER, and its just not the same as it used to be. Now that youve heard my rant, and suggestions are MUCH appreciated. Thank you alot!

 One fine geetar picker. Some other great acoustic pickers worth checking out are Doyle Dykes, Tommy Emmanuel, and Peppino D'agostino. And Tim Reynolds, of course.

Jerry Garcia for some moderatley challenging acoustic work. I you really want a challenge check out Tony Rice and Larry Keel. Of course the previously mentioned Leo Kottke is always valid.

If youre looking for singer-songwriter type stuff check out Neil Young and Crosby Stills and Nash (and Young)

If you have never heard it, CSNY's debut "Deja Vu" is an essential album for ANYONE who enjoys singer songwriter stuff. If you want listening recomendations, I say get that album as well as my favorite live album of theirs "4 way street"

But for realz, Deja Vu might be one of the greatest albums of all time. There is a reason CSNY headlined Woodstock 69 :D

Buy an electric guitar.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

there's a lot more then just stream by tim reynolds though. learn true finger picking to where you're doing a bassline and a melody, big love by fleetwood mac would be one. lindsey buckinghams acoustic stuff.

Alexi Murdoch. There are very few of his tabs out so you'll have to learn it by ear, not to mention its all in alternate tunings.
