Anybody looking for a DM3MD or a Taylor 914c

Unread post by just42night » Tue Jan 21, 2003 3:12 am

I own #101 of 234, Martin DM3MD and aTaylor 914c w elec. onboard I had a fishman matrix pickup installed. The Taylor is a 2000 model year with the no longer made inlay, the one Dave plays. I am going to grad school and I need the money so to my great great dissapointment I will sell one of these.

By the way they are both amazing guitars. I would not and will compair them. I am in love with them both for very different reasons. They are two completely different guitars I love switching off playing them depending on the song.

Has anybody else played one of these?
What did you think?

I e-mailed you about the DM3MD. I NEED IT!!! What's the chance we can raise money for the site.....AND ME...to get that DM3MD?????!?!?!?!?!?!?! It is my dream guitar and holds a special place in my heart because of my devotion to Dave's guitar playing. Anyway, I am tempted to remove your e-mail address so no one else can get to you before I can!!! Anyway, price on the DM3MD. I am thinking about taking out a loan for it because I want it that badly.....lemme know, peace

I just felt the need(mostly cause it's my board and I can!) to post a 2nd time about how much I want that guitar....in case all you didn't know. FUUUUUUUUUUCK, why can't I have an extra ........in the middle of this post I found out how much the guitar would cost me.....sorry all, I DO NOT have $5,500 laying around. Oh well. I thought maybe it was something like $3,900 or so as LIST was $3,200...oh well, I'll just stick with my Yamaha APX-4A that is broken...and not staying in tune :( :( :( :( :( I need a hug :?:

ticohans, that's about the price they go for on Ebay, IIRC. So, fair market value, essentially.

Yeah but if it's a used guitar, but isn't vintage, I don't understand why the price has gone UP. If it were like 40 years old and in great condition, then I'd get it. But that's not the case. Are there only a few of them in circulation or something?

You got it. They only produced 234, all #ed and signed, and not many of them are being re-sold.

I agree with you. They aren't worth that much. AT ALL. But the law of supply and demand. There are only 231 available (minus the first 3 that Dave has). More than 231 peopl want them. This leads to INSANE  prices. It sucks because it would be a nice guitar to own.

Peace,

I'd rather take that 5500 and buy myself a REALLY NICE top notch handmade guitar by one of the best luthiers around. If you're going to spend much more than 2000 IMO, most likely you'll get the best bang for your buck if you look beyond the Martins and the Taylors. Especially if you have a custom guitar in mind.

I would never drop $5500 on a guitar. But then I'm not as serious as most people on here, probably.

And I could drop $5500 on a computer easily if I had the cash. I guess it's just priorities. :)
