GreedylilPig wrote:I've been seeing this thread for a few days now, and have been thinking about it since, and after much contemplation, I've arrived at The Stone. It was hard to rule out Bartender, You Never Know, #41, and Pig, but in the end, I had to go with it. Here's why:

Beautifully complex verse riff that flows incredibly well with the lyrics. This riff then flows into a melodic chorus which in turn flows into an intense transition back into the verse. It's brilliant. Furthermore, the lyrics are, in my opinion, perhaps Dave's finest work (in contention with You Never Know and Pig). But what makes the lyrics all the more impressive so as to say that it's a masterpiece, is that they're respresentative of the music that's being played behind them. It's kind of hard to explain, but for example, the intricate verse riff is played while Dave ponders the gap between reality and perception, and then flows into the softer, more hopeful chorus, which then, with "but if not..." back into the more regretful verse. Also, each band member shines. As a matter of fact, in my opinion, I think The Stone is Stefan and Boyd's best song (Stefan no doubt but hard to say for sure with Boyd due to Warehouse and Dancing Nancies). Carter rocks, as always, Roi adds perfectly fitting fills, and of course, Dave's vocals and guitar are nothing short of masterful. While vocally, I think Dave's best song is Bartender, Carter's is Crush (live, particularly WH5 vol. 1), and Roi's is LIOG, but as a band, I say The Stone.

You have excellent taste. I believe many are in the same boat as you on this one, including myself.
good, and you?

What about Sattelite?
I think its right up there with Ants Marching and What Would You Say. If you played Sattelite for someone who doesn't even like dave they would know that it was DMB.
Now if your talking about overall skill i think it would have to be The Stone cause i still can't completely flow through that song
"They called it Aspen because "buttpencil" was already taken."

--my little brother(stoned 1st time :) )

"A commom mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is underestimating the ingenuity of complete fools." --Ford Prefect

"Don't forget to bring a towel." --Towlie

What was the other?
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Billies?! Give me a break!
If they played Proudest Monkey at a concert I would sit down for it.

STDH is a tad boring, I will admit.
