Unread post by Thomas » Tue Dec 09, 2003 1:15 am

haha i know you guys get pissed with these whose a better guitar player threads but i just have to know what y'all think.

untill yesterday i had NEVER seen or heard Stevie play guitar and had only heard that he was good, but i was over at a friends house and he showed me a dvd of him and....wow.

i had always heard (at least from here) that timmy was one of the best but i'm not so sure if he could hang with steve.

Sigh. Dmb fans put tim on a much higher pedastal than he deserves to be on. There's really no comparison here. SRV is so smooth, and so right on the fuckin money all the time. Tim Reynolds is fast, and a great mechanical player. There isnt a ton of feeling behind what he plays (and yes, I'm aware there are some exceptions, but for the most part he's all speed.) Not that he's shitty or anything, but I think most dmb fans just havent heard anyone else. Or if they have heard other players, they werent really listening.

SRV hands down.

Although Tim is a phenomenal guitarist, you can't compare anyone to SRV. He was one of a kind and in a league all his own.
good, and you?

Definitely SRV! His solos just flow so powerfully from him. It's like the guitar is just an extension of his body. A lot of Tim's solos (at least when he's playing with Dave) sound a little forced.

BTW, I love that SRV Austin City Limits DVD.....Watching him play instead of just listening reinforces even more how great he is.

i'm sure he could have played anything he wanted to, but blues was pretty much all he played. although, at the end of his career, he was going in a more jazzy direction

with or without dmb, I don't care.

Stevei is one of the best there ever was, but come on. Go see a live timmy solo show, and you will see what he is, without a glimpse of dmb ever.

Timmy is the greatest guitarist of all time, hands down. I don't care about what anyone says, I have a SRV dvd, and I still like timmy more.

SRV, agian, fucking awesome guitarist, but timmy, there is no one better.
