last night's open mic

Unread post by UNCcrombie » Sat Jan 13, 2007 3:02 pm

had some fun at last night's open mic here at RIT if you wanna take a listen that'd be cool. tech crew got real heavy on the vocal bass so there is distortion, other from that enjoy

Listening to save a life right now. Your voice fits this song well. My only critique is to make the chorus more dynamic in contrast to the verse. It probably sounds better live.

With 41 you sound like your vocals and a tad lower key than the guitar, especially at the beginning. Good job though on both, and thanks for the post.

not bad, but not great. it's way too busy. the voice is good and the guitar parts are fine and the horn part is fine but together it sounds so jumbled. not to mention, the point of this song is to be powerful, so when you get to the chorus it really should be strong full chorded like the last chorus was.

not bad, nothing stuck out as horrible to me, i would just work and making all the instruments work together.

btw, do you live in chapel hill? if so, i'll be in your neck of the woods this weekend for a jazz gig.

don't care for the singing on #41

the bad recording quality might have something to do with it. i liked the sax a lot :)

it sounds way to jumbled on how to save a life and the guitar part seems to be lacking alot of rhythm. not to mention the little run before the last set of choruses is off key.

i do like the vocals though.

the vocals in 41 are weak, off key and trying way too hard be have style. you cannot built your vocal style until you are on key and in tune.

the instrumentals are good.

indeed. i dont like him singing with us, but since the guy from how to save was sick i couldnt ask him to push his squak box. i did screw up on off key part like you said but i thought the rhythm was fine. maybe it just sounded off since there was a lot going on.
