I went with a few of my idiot fans. They wanted to get drunk in the parking lot during the opening act because, as my friend put it, "It's some Alanis Morissette-like chick. I don't want to watch that shit." Turned out to be Norah Jones.

The sound was terrible, the setlist was crappy and had no flow, my friends were idiots, the people around me were idiots, the band lacked energy. I left during the encore.

The '02 show in Champaign, where I got kicked out before the encore. Indoor shows suck anyways.

I was there too. Dry building, no smoking and no smoking.

The night before at the United Center was ghastly. That buliding has the worst concert sound ever.
And WTF? Do I really need to hear When the World Ends as an opener? Two days in a row? Fucking lazy.

This had the potential to be a great show considering some of the bad sets in the 2005 year. Unfortunantly, a few things did it for me... There was a lot of dead space during the show and I lost the vibe after a few good songs, the sound in the Kohl Center sucks donkey balls, it seemed like the band was just going through their routein. Even though it was the worst show I went to for those reasons, I still had a good night, especially with the Linus and Lucy and Christmas Song, which made a comeback after a few years of not being played I believe. Another thing that made the show bad for me was the fact that it was the first show I had taped and I was paranoid the whole show since I had borrowed 2 Neumann KM-184's from my prof. I did realize though that taping wasnt really for me (I just worry too much about equipment) and you can't really get a good tape unless you have a close seat, which wasnt the case here. If I ever get really good seats to a venue I might tape again, but forget it. Still a good show, but the worst in comparison.

My first cocert is comin' up on July 28 (Hartford) and im goin for night 2 as well,soooo after that weekend one of those will be the worst DMB show ive been too

I have the 7.25.00 concert available on CD!! It was my first DMB concert too, but I had been listening to the band for quite a while and knew all the songs. I can't say it was a bad show, because I think it's among the top I've ever seen. Only ousted from the top spot by seeing them multiple nights at Red Rocks last summer. The Mile High show was kick ass and it developed a further love for Ben Harper. His guitar and lyrics on Watchtower were awesome. So, in regards to the original thread... I'd have to say that although I've been to quite a few shows over the years I guess I've lucked out by not having a bad experience. I'll have to sidetrack and go with 7.15.01 starting off miserably because I was video taping the concert and had my girlfriend (at the time- long gone now thank goodness) with me who didn't really give two shits about the band. She insisted on getting absolutely shitfaced and was drunk by the time Wyclef came on for the opener. So I was really pissed that she was interrupting with the video process. I made her brother take care of her and basically disowned her the rest of the night. So the concert was great. I will say that the worst opening act I've seen had to be 8.31.05, Slightly Stoopid. I don't know what it was about them but I just thought that every single song sounded the same.

Yeah. Something like 10 repeats from UC, with 6 songs in a row from the previous night's setlist. The entire section I was in was like "What the FUCK!?!" when the opened with WTWE again, and pretty much every time they played a repeat. By the end of that 6 song run we were all like, "Glad I paid to see the same show 2 nights in a row." Terrible.

The setlist for UC was solid (with the exception of Where Are You Going), and the songs that weren't repeats were good at AH, but there were just WAY too many repeats, including, of course, my favorite, WAYG. I can't avoid that piece of shit. I'd seriously rather hear I Did It. Seriously.

Everyone on the boards (myself included) loves to brag about the badass dmb shows they've seen. Whether its a rare debut, special guest, or TEH ENERGY, things happen during dmb concerts that make the unforgettable.

But I ask you this, what was the worst dmb show you've seen? Remember, just because its the worst doesn't mean it was bad, just means it wasn't as great as the others.

So far I've seen dmb 7 times, my first show in 03. Out of these shows, I would have to say my least favorite was 6.8.05 in Columbus. I remember Seek Up was debuted, but dave flubbed the lyrics, and LeRoi appeared to have some sax problems. The technical issues continued when dave teased #40. I was so pumped to hear the opening chords, but when dave began to sing it his guitar cut out. He attempted again, but the guitar cut out once more, and he abandoned it. Also, Robert Randolph guested on Stand Up, where he didn't fit at all, which was followed by the debut of the spawn of satan, the Louisiana Bayou Closer. Ugh. As the encore started, dave came out and said he was gonna try a quiet song or something along those lines. My hopes got high thinking he'd do the #40 he teased earlier. Nope, instead they played Stolen Away for the first time ever.

The show wasn't horrible, So Much to Say was a fantastic opener, Crush was spot on, and Warehouse made for an incredible closer. I didn't leave the show disappointed, anytime i see the band i have an amazing time. But overall, this show was my least favorite.

I was at the concert, and I dont know if I was paying attention or not, but I dont recall the #40 tease. Maybe because I kept swtcihing from venue seats to lawn with my friends. But I did like Crush and SMTS.

That's beside the point really. I must dmbassist said everything I was going to say. I've seen DMB 3 times now, and recently have become tired enough of them to not only not renew my Warehouse membership, but also to not even bother to go see them in Boston (1 hour away from my hometown...hey...we all make mistakes.... ) What began this movement was the show I saw in 2004: 7.07.04. I was dissapointed then that the band was "road testing" these same 4 songs every night, and granted DMB has always done a lot of repeating each tour (its in the nature of any band I suppose, but I was born and raised on Phish so I think I'm slightly biased). I found that show dissapointing just because things seemed to be out of place, DMB would build up the energy then just kill it with a new boring song, or an old boring song. I saw them again in Manchester in 2005: 12.12.05, and was once again terribly dissapointed, not by the show itself, but by the repetition. I guess what puts me in the position I'm in today was the first DMB show I ever attended: 9.09.03 (I jest not my friends: 9.09, 7.07, and 12.12...very strange...) That was a fantastic show and a fantastic tour. The most number of songs played in a tour in years, if I recall correctly.

So you ask me what the worst DMB show I've been too is? I don't have a "worst" in the typical sense of the word. I have one great show, and two shows that while I enjoyed the energy and momentum of the concert experience while I was there, and certainly enjoyed some moments from them, in the end I was disapointed. Perhaps I'm talking in circles here, and contradicting myself, but I guess my point is that since 2004 DMB has been on a downward (or upward depending on your perspective) spiral towards being a band that puts on a great single show, but overall a disapointing tour. No matter how many songs they pull out from the 90's (and there aren't that many left now...) they are still experts in shooting themselves in the foot in the long run. For example: debut #34. Sweet! Play it 3 times in 4 shows. Not so sweet! You get it?

i second that. i was there and it did have a ton of potential, but it was just a mediocre show

I had to leave right after TSTJL (thank god i at least got that one in) due to my gf getting sick (puking and overheating). I was walking out of the venue as The Last Stop began to play, wow very upsetting. I then spent the rest of the show next to my car in the shit ass green lot of Alpine drinking by myself trying to hear the show from the lot as songs like Nancies, Warehouse, Typ. Sit., Pig, JTR played softly in the distance.

luckily cant say ive seen a bad one, didnt catch them at all last tour, just because of the lackluster sets, but all of the others were good. the last one i saw at riverbend was probably the weakest of the bunch as far as energy goes, but overall still a good show.

I'm only 17 and I might've been keyed and drunk off my rocker, but I still had it within myself to know that the '06 riverbend show was awful. The band came out there and did what they do best, but really, that short of a setlist, along with a 17:31 m/s everyday as an encore, and the heat oh god the heat, made that show the worst. But its all good, because that was 8/1/06, and I stayed at the same hotel as the band and met Dave and the rest of the band and some crew in WPB 11 days later.
