I agree with you all...but I have to have a bit of pride in the Grammy's.

My oldest brother won a Grammy back in the 80's. He was the Curator of Jazz History for the Smithsonian Institute and part of his duties was that he helped produce all of the Smithsonian's musical box sets. He did a bunch, the history of jazz, the history of country music, etc. but the one that he won the Grammy for was the History of Popular Music (music of the 1940's).
The Grammy was for the Best Historical Album of 198?. He didn't think he stood a chance because they were up against an Elvis Presley historical set that was selling very well at the time.
I agree that the Grammy is more about popularity or ability to sell $$$ than true musical talent...but in his case I think he deserved it because...well....he's my brother :D

actually, BTCS was nominated for best rock album, and Crush was nominated for best pop performance.

I believe that these should be based on viewer votes. I mean, its the viewers that buy the stuff, and dont make any money (unless your one of THOSE people) off of it. We buy it just cause we love the music. Although, then it would be a popularity contest. I mean, SMTS, dont get me wrong. That song is pretty kickass but its the same two beats the entire song. I guess the only way to get a fair grammy is have you pass a test before you vote. Two Step should have won

you are making an assumption that common people care about dmb as much as you do. most people are just casual listeners. i hate to say it, but the common person has awful taste in music...

i man after my own heart. if the common man didn't have shitty taste in music, there would be no brittany spears or backstreet boys etc.

...or country music at all for that matter

I loathe country music. I hate hearing people say how bad DMB is and then pop on something that I can play from hearing it once. It's just that it makes me wonder. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose.

Good, I'm not the only one who loathes country music. Which grammy did SMTS win?
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away
