What DMB song to perform?

Unread post by MakoMako » Wed Dec 20, 2006 5:51 pm

I know this question has been asked half a dozen times, and probably the exact same situation as well.

The thing that I'm asking is about what DMB song should I play for my school's talent show. I'm doing it with a band, no mine mind you, but the band is full. They have a guitarist, keyboardist, bass, drummer, saxophonist, and they can get hold of a violinist if it comes down to it. They want me to come in to act as the sort of 'Dave' of the group. I'd be playing Dave's part and singing, while the other guitarist would be playing Tim's part.

My biggest question are there any songs you would definatly suggest that both Tim and Dave shine in, and sounds absolutely wonderful as a full-band with Tim there? Any help would be appriciated, considering the sooner we pick the song, the sooner we can start practicing.

P.S.
We'd like to do something more upbeat, not needing to be well-known, just upbeat as far as Dave goes. Thanks again.

Something upbeat... Lie In Our Graves would be awesome. You could have a guitar, sax, violin, keyboard solo. Not really upbeat, but Seek Up would be killer, too. And Two Step, like already mentioned.

Something thats not a typical DMB cover. I hate the stereo typical DMB cover. Do something like Raven, Spoon, BEF, Kit Kat, JTR, etc...

LIOG hands down. besides, i think that would be by far the easiest song for the rest of the band to build on

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I'm probably gonna burn the rest of band a little CD of some live performances of some of the songs mentioned. I'm definatly be hinting towards Lie In Our Graves. I've already got that song down anyway, so it would just be a matter of lining it all up.

Also, I'm gonna hold off on the Spoon since I plan on doing a duet with the best female singer in my school. Although with how this talent show is sounding I might end up being in three acts. (I'm also doing I Believe In A Thing Called Love with another band)

I would say LIOG and even Ants.

But, why not Last Stop or DDTW (where Tim plays that Wah stuff during verses)?

I never thought I'd get that said to me. But I'll definatly try and get someone to record it. And thanks for the thought.

P.S.
I don't want to take any credit, despite that ya'll may never even talk to anyone in the band. Its not my band, I'm just a guest. ^^
