So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

Dave Nominated for a Grammy

Unread post by PlayLikeDave » Thu Dec 04, 2003 11:49 pm

According to the Warehouse:

12.04.03
Dave Matthews has received a Grammy nomination in the category of Best Male Rock Performance for the song "Gravedigger." The 46th Annual Grammy awards will take place in Los Angeles on Feb 8th, 2004.

That I think is bittersweet. Yes I love Gravedigger, but I woulda liked to have seen all of DMB nominated for a Grammy and not just Dave (granted it wasn't them playing, but I am not comfortable with just Dave getting a nomination without the rest of the band there).

Stay or Leave is obviously much better anyway IMO. But Bravo for Dave, and fingers crossed that he wins.

peace
I love you oh so well, like a kid loves candy and fresh snow.

true. but i think he's done so much stuff that could/should have been nominated a long time ago. maybe if he wrote songs about how much he hated his momma he'd win more. j/k i guess that was dirty, i like eminem. it just pisses me off when someone wins just because of how popular they are coughnorahjonescough

You're both right , Dave have written alot of other songs that would probably deserve a better nomination than Gravedigger , but its still a great song , i like it alot ....

I believe Dave Matthews band has won a grammy in the past. I might be wrong but I think Under the table & Dreaming won bets album of the year or best new artist. It was something like that or it was nominated and did't win.

So Much To Say won a grammy in 1996

and i would rather him not win. having a grammy is more of a stigma than a reward to me

yeah no kiddin'

I didn't even know he won a grammy for that one. I vaguely remember them winning an award for something and Dave saying "We like to play so that's what we do" probably was that one.

Grammys have absolutely no bearing on how good a band/singer/whatever is. They only reflect what is good for the music industry.

dmb never got a grammy besides smts.
"Forget about what you are escaping from," he said, quoting an old maxim of Kornblum's. "Reserve your anxiety for what you are escaping to."
