batteries running out

Unread post by daveguitar127 » Thu Dec 14, 2006 9:23 pm

i purchased an epiphone chet atkins sst a couple of months ago and when i got it i had to get it sent out to get fixed. (I bought it off ebay and somthing must have gotten knocked out during shipping). i played it for over a month probably and then one day there was no sound coming from the amp. i was just sitting down to play for a few minutes and didnt have time to investigate. i told my dad about it and he fiddled with it. so when i came home he said it just needed a new battery and he had fixed it. so i then played for a while longer changed to battery. but now its only been about 3 weeks since i changed the battery and i believe i need a new one.

the battery im talking about is the one in the cavity of the guitar to power the electronics.

does anyone know why the battery is running out so quickly and what i can do to keep the battery from dieing? (im using a regular energizer battery, the rectangular one)

I have a fender Powerhouse Strat that has a similar promlem. I found that un-plugging the guitar after you are done playing everytime will make the battery last much longer. Besides that, there may be a short or something. If it comes down to it, just take the battery out everytime your done playing, although that would be very annoying!

Yeah a lot of guitars are "turned on" by plugging them in so unplug them when you arent playing them.
Do I listen to pop music because I'm miserable or am I miserable because I listen to pop music?

Side note:
"a regular energizer battery, the rectangular one" made me die laughing for whatever reason.
