string guage question

No. The only reason you should touch your truss rod, at least in regards to strings, is if you change gauges of strings. With a gauge change, you create new tension on your neck that the truss rod may not be able to handle, so it could possibly damage your neck. The big problem is if you go from lights to a heavier gauge. If you've been using lights all along, and dont have any buzz or action problems, don't worry about it.

I haven't tryed them myself yet , but i've heard that D'Addario last longer , so you might be right about thatTrippnBill686 wrote:D'add coated last the same or longer than elixirs and cost about 1/3 of the price.

thanks for all the replies guys!
actually, i just picked up a set of dean markley signature bronze lights. saw em at a swap meet in tennessee when i was down visiting, and since ranting thespian always raves about em i thought i'd give em a try.
i think i'm gonna try em out without getting the truss rod adjusted just yet (altho i'm a little worried) and see how they sound. i'm hoping the lights will be easier on me, since i'm just a beginner, tho i'm building up some serious calluses. hope i don't do any serious damage!
