For those who wanted a Taylor DMSM....

if the information ive gotten is correct, there is no longer any chance of Dave's own sig Taylor, nor anyone elses for that matter. As of next year Taylor will no longer be offering a signature series or koa (K) series. the walnut (W) series will be special order only.

i wanna cry about the no more koa series... i hope that part at least isnt true.

the 300 sapele series will be replaced with the 300 honduran mahogany series. it might cost more but itll be worth it. the sounds will be relatively close but im willing to bet HM will be better.

ES will be offered on all models 300+.

Possibly there will be an x54 model available in all series instead of just the limiteds (x54 = grand auditorium 12 string)

the 30th anniversary Taylors are coming out next year and (quoted from a Taylor rep) - "It will not be just your normal Taylor guitar with different woods and fancy appointments, it will be something totally different. Not what anyone is expecting." who knows what this means.... i cant wait though.

anyway, just thought all yall Taylor fanatics would like to know. hopefully the Koa thing is a lie.... i want a k65.... sigh.

by the way, any of this is subject to change.

shane, they are saying on TGF that koa is still a custom order thing.

why get a signature guitar that was costum made for another person. If you want to spend big bucks on a custom made guitar, choose your own details. It will cost less too since it isn't a signature so the celebrity name isn't on it, and thus the guitar price will go down.

but the price will go up because its a custom, not a stock model

i agree with choosing your own custom specs, but that's not to say i wouldn't LOVE a DM3MD. not necessarily because dave designed it, but because it is an awesome guitar that happens to also have my favorite musician's name on it.

That, and the fact that they arent exactly losing any value. Those things just keep selling for more and more...I cant imagine what they will go for in ten years.
