Bm sounds about right for the Sing and dance part, and A for the look up at the sky part, but the verse I am not quite sure.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

yeah you can say it's D for sure because the notes in the scales are the same as for Bm but the verse chord 2-x-4-4 which to me is like a F# major chord with the 13 instead of the major 3rd, which leads into the key of Bm (sing and dance...) and the A chord that's played at the "look up at the sky" part sets up the key of D (my mouth is open wide....) and also I've heard him end the song on 2-x-4-3 before which is a F# major which leads me to feel the song is in Bm. Although in Natural minor, the V chord is minor, it's kindofa rule that in minor keys, the V chord is a major chord. that would mean that the 7th scale degree of Bm would be sharpened to an A# but Dave avoids the A# by using the 2-x-4-4 chord in the verse instead of 2-x-4-3, which makes playing that A chord much less surprising. but like I said I've heard him end the song with 2-x-4-3, on the Recently album I believe.EnFuego wrote:sweet. thanks. i thought it was in D, but wasnt sure.
anyway, I apoligize for the exausting post, but I try to explain myself and sometimes make it harder to understand for the reader. sorry if I confused anyone.

it doesn't really matter, anyone who says it does they are different is just being nitpicky and trying to be overcomplicated. the real difference is when you actual apply the scaleAppsoldier wrote:yea but they aren't. like you call a song in one key or the other, i just don't know how to decide.fatjack wrote:D and Bm are the same thing my friendEnFuego wrote:sweet. thanks. i thought it was in D, but wasnt sure.

they have the exact same notes, just in a different order. so in terms of key, there is no differencegravedigger wrote:Explain. I thought they were different.fatjack wrote:D and Bm are the same thing my friendEnFuego wrote:sweet. thanks. i thought it was in D, but wasnt sure.
