The Stone...
The Stone...
How can anyone not hear this song and know immediately that Dave is a fuckin genius? this song is the bomb, top to bottom. I cant believe this was inside someone's head, waiting to be written. shitty bands put out bad songs with one finger power chords, and then Dave comes and writes this, which not only is great guitar work (so F anyone who says dave can't play) but mixes so many emotions so well. listening to Dave play this song live (solo from the charlie rose show in particular) pumps me up so much, damn this song is awesome...ok end rant.

I would like to add that Everyday is another testament to this above idea....
I really need to stop being facetious...Anyway, yes Dave has his genius. I would like to add 'Stay' to this list as well. Who would ever think you could play an entire verse on two strings with two fingers...Insane, and that is how all the geniuses are.
peace

amazing song. just amazing. so powerful. warehouse is more powerful in my opinion. both riffs are just mesmorizing (sp?) but i like warehouse better especially witha passion intro or soething.

The passion intro scares the shit out of me, so does the lyrics to the stone. "nough said.
Forget about the reasons and the treasons we are seeking
Forget about the notion that our emotions can be swept away, kept at bay
Forget about being guilty, we are innocent instead
For soon we will all find our lives swept away

Stone is THE reason i started listening to DMB. with out this song i would have never liked them. It opened the door. It is my favorite song and just sums up so many times in my life. and i have a couple over-riffs that i play with it using the DD6 to make it crazy good.
yeah, "over-riff" is a word. i made it up.

the Stone is THE reason I picked up guitar. After playing for about a week I heard about guitar tabs and looked up the one for the Stone and started playing it about 100x slower than it is and i thought "that must be wrong, it doesn't sound right at all" GOD I was such a noob and a halfgrock wrote:Stone is THE reason i started listening to DMB. with out this song i would have never liked them. When I first saw Dave play the Stone on the Listener supported video, I was like Wow, look at his fretting hand!! holy shit! I thought to myself how cool it would be to be able to play like that.grock wrote:Stone is THE reason i started listening to DMB. with out this song i would have never liked them. It opened the door. Then later on I saw him play it on the Charlie Rose Show. I was blown away so much it was like discovering Jesus (ok bad exageration sp?) but then I decided to learn the song, so practicing it non-stop for months on end, I eventually was able to play it. It's my favorite Dave song. period.
good, and you?

That what it said in some DMB book, I can never remember the name... I bought it for my bro about 4 years ago, but I know its not the popular one that everyone has heard ofgravedigger wrote:who dissed it?
