Help me pick out a guitar

Unread post by iha » Sat Dec 02, 2006 8:11 pm

I've never really looked at acoustic guitars. I've had a cheap $200ish fender acoustic since I started playing 8 years ago. I really want to get a good guitar, but have absolutely no idea what to look for, or what model of guitars are good. All I know is that martin's and taylors are supposed to be good for the most part, and alverez are good value guitars.

I can't really decide how much I want to spend, but I'm thinking in the $700 - $1000 range.

Can anyone give me any suggestions on what kind of guitars I should get, or what to look for when purchasing a guitar, or anything? Do you think I should spend a little more and get a better guitar? Should I look on eBay? etc.

Anyone who would say that a Taylor is garbage obviously likes the cock.

play lots of guitars and buy something you like, my only reccomendation would be to buy from one of the major companies, just because if something's wrong with your guitar at any point, you want to be able to get ahold of the manufacturer, which would be harder with smaller manufacturers

Taylors are OK guitars at best with a huge price tag for the last name on the headstock. There is no denying a Taylor guitar is overpriced.

iha, I suggest checking out Martins in your price range. Also, check for Larrivee dealers in your area, I tell anyone shopping for a guitar to at least pick one up and play it

Ive also heard great things about the EPI Masterbuilt series. They might be out of your price range, but Gibson acoustics are amazing as well.

play the taylors, too. You can get a nice taylor in that price range. BUT, it's if you like it. I obviously like them but i understand not everyone does. So, play a bunch of different brands and see what you like. I also agree on Alvarez being great in that price range too.

Laravees are some good shit. I'd recommend playing one at least.

the vaginal fluid they are secreting is the same composition of urine minus the uric acid and phosphorous. i learned that in 11th grade anatomy. btw, sometimes it does have a FAINT smell of Pizzle.

can you just throw out some names of some good guitars in my price range so i will at least know what to be looking for?

do you think i should spend a little more, or do you think i can get a good guitar for <$1000?

also, i don't know if it helps any.. but i don't really care about having a pickup... i'm indifferent.

The intonation (chords always in tune; in tune up the neck) on my LS05 is the BEST I have ever experienced on ANY guitar at any price, including some Martins retailing for more than $5000.
I agree with that

BTW, the LS05 was a limited edition model
