So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

I am having a tough time getting the proper rhythm or strumming pattern for Crash. I've reviewed the tabs, video, music, etc but I still sound close---not exact. Help!!!

the way i learned the proper rythm:
-------------------------
---5-5-5-5-----5-5-5--
---4-4-4-4-----4-4-4---
---2-2-2-2-----2-2-2---
-4------------0----------
---------------------------
alrght, whenever there is a 2 or a 4 to play, play the 245 chord 4 times, and whenever there is a 0, play it 3 times
hopr that helps, my explanation may be a littlle weird, but the rythm works

That's actually pretty good... I like the method... Haven't tried it yet because I am guitarless.

But, I ahve another question... when you say play it four times, you me pick the first note, then downstrum, upstrum, down, up... right? And for 3 your would just cut out the last up?

Also, I find it hard to just play the 3 strings... anything you know that could help that? Just to be able to play it that fast and only hit those 3 strings is hard for me!

Thanks -

here's how you can finger the chords:
--------
----5--- 4on5
----4----- 3on4
----2---- 1on2
-4------- 2on 4
----------

it sounds alright if you hit the open high e, so just concentrate on hitting the top 4 strings

and yes, you do cut out the last up on 3

Now do you actually pick the open notes(ie: the notes on the A string) or do you just hit them on the up or down stroke?

so you have to do it really fast then I take it... The best way to approach that is just to play it slowly and get it right, and then speed up when you can?
