Practice Practice Practice, start slow, then get faster. I believe that that is all you can do with guitar.

Exactly , start slow the raise the speed a little at a time , then you'll get it

Its sometimes hard to tab out strumming , not because you can't do it , i just personally find that confusing ....

What you should do is listen very carefully to the song until it feels natural , maybe try sitting down and listen to the song and play some good old air guitar , get the rhythm going in your strumming hand , and as we always say on these boards , try getting a Dave & Tim version of the song , sometimes its alot easier to pickup the strumming on an acoustic performance

I have watched old and new videos of dave playing sattelite recently to look for the strumming he does that you guys talk about. He doesn't strum at all in the song, he barely ever hits a sting other than the one he picks, and I think those are accidents that he doesn't want. The only strumming in the song is the chorus and bridge. Also, for alternate picking, this is it for each note he plays in the song.

this is not a muted picking song.

also, doing this song fingerpicked makes it 10 times easier, you just have to have the rythm down.
