yes the most important thing to adjust is your angle of attack towards the fret board. He hits all the verse notes in LIOG with angled downstrokes while muting the string around them, just in case he hits them by accident

I always say the same thing:
DONT LET YOUR UPSTRUM BE SHITTY! ok?
and also try to practise with both a pick and without.
Try this excersice for picking notes:
There or in any pair of strings. EDIT: anywhere on the fretboard.
Fede

Then, what you have to do for LIOG, is mute the strings below the one you are playing the note on, using the finger you are using to play the note with. Your fingertip hits the fretboard, and the rest of your finger is slightly off the fret board, muting the strings.
I hope that isn't confusing.

why the weird smiley? I though that was a rather good explanation...Grachi wrote:Hydro120 wrote:Get good at, when you strum (for example) an open A major chord, you don't hit the low E. I use my fingernails, I hate picks even though I am good with one. Do not conform to what one artist does, make your own style.Machtimus wrote:Oh my yes, definately practice with a pick. I absolutely regret not having used a pick in my early days of playing. I still to this day cannot use a pick fluently.

Yes. Different than barring with your finger, you are only hitting the desired note with your fingertip, and the rest of the finger mutes the strings you don't want to play.Grachi wrote:i was doin the weird smiley cause it was confusing at first, but reading it closer I see what he was saying
the finger is angled differently so you can mute the other strings, essentially.
pretty sure thats what was being conveyed?
Heres a quick video I made.SPOTLIGHT5584 wrote:ok so what you guys are saying is that in LIOG verse when hes hitting the single notes just mute with the same finger as ur useing to hit the note with angle downstrokes and no upstrokes but still making a full strum right?
I apologize for the low quality, but all I have is a cheapo webcam.
Hope it helps!
