The guitar at central park

Unread post by twoshort » Fri Nov 28, 2003 1:34 am

Can someone give me details on the 6 string Taylor that dave played in central park? The inlays on the finger board and the head stock are throwing me for a loop. Totally custom or what? If anyone has ANY details I want them. Thanks.

I haven't seen the show yet but Dave is currently using his Taylor 914ce , the new models have a different inlay than the ones Dave has

Here is a link to it

yeah.. the inlay is real unique.. that's why I'm curious. I want to know if it's a custom or if it's going to be or is a production model. It's something I haven't seen before.

I think it was in the beginning of 2003 they stopped using those inlays , i could be wrong so don't quote me on that , and i have no idea why they changed the inlays because the old ones were very nice , you could probably get those custom made still though

yeah, dave played the 914ce and the W65 at central park.

the inlay on dave's 914 is called "cindy" and it's a custom thing from taylor now.

I got the W65, but the 914 threw me off. Does anyone have this guitar, I'd love to see another picture of it. And I'd love to buy it. I guess I have to call Taylor on Monday??

Personally I don't really like the rosewood sound. A lil to bassy for me. But my advice is dont just buy it cause it looks cool. I dont know how experienced you are as a player, but thats my advice.

Which guitar brand do you preferre that ain't too bassy compared to a Taylor ? Don't say Martin now ;)

People should never buy a guitar because of its looks , thats the good thing about Martins and Taylors , you get an amazing sound at the same time the design is beautiful

i just played a 914ce yesterday in a guitar center, $3500...

didnt impress me any more than any other taylor except for the fact that it weas such a work of art... didnt play or sound any better than a 714 and in fact i like the 314 better than any of them... im weird i guess

i was a little intimidated by playing a 3500 dollar guitar too, i didnt want to go too nuts with it, just played when the world ends for a bit and quickly put it back up on teh rack unscathed
