I've found that smoking is only hard to quit when other people want you to quit. I've smoked since i was 18 and one day decided that i didn't like how i was getting sick constantly so i quit smoking and that was atleast four months ago, but when my wife(at the time) wanted me to quit i couldn't do it. Might just be a way of thinking though, i know a lot of people who've been trying to quit for years and still haven't.
Must be tough for Dave cause all his fans want him to quit soo much. Maybe the guy just wants a fucking cig

Yeah I think what you say is very important. Most people who do quit do it for themselves.

Smoking is in itself a very selfish act (psicologically speaking) so it is understandable (though not tolerable in my thinking) the root of the "not quitting if someone else tells me too". The fact that YOUR addiction makes other people sick is a very significant matter when analysing (sp?) that factor.

I do hope Dave stopped smoking and began some sort of "treatment" to make his voice better...

probably not right before shows...but probably when he's bored he still does...almost guaranteed.

I would put money on him still smoking reefer. Like what Grasso said, not that it would be hard, but theres no significant reason to quit smoking the odd joint. He looks pretty straight during shows now, possibly the odd time getting high during shows back in the day. However the book Step Into The Light describes instances where the band refused to do it before/during shows, Carter says music is somewhat like a job and they feel they need to be at 100%.

I hope dave quits smoking (cigarettes), I have never puffed a cigarette once and cant relate to how hard it is to quit, but it is apparent that it's no easy task.
