Replacing a fender strat pot

Unread post by BenB » Wed Sep 27, 2006 5:05 pm

I'm trying to find information on the differences between 250, 500k and 1meg. I have to replace my volume control pot since one of the prongs broke and the volume nob will not stay on.

If anyone can tell me it would help me out..thanks.

The value on the pot helps determine how much the treble is rolled off as you turn the knob. Strats stock are 500K I beleive. If you liked the way it sounded before it broke, just order a 500K. The underside of the pot should also tell you what the value is.

Thank you for the response! that is a good deal of help. Not sure why treble plays a part with the volume control, but something else I can learn later..Thanks!
