Suitable standard tuning for space between
The standart tuning for "The space between", which has already been posted, is not very good.
So here is my version which I think is pretty good so far.
For the chorus part you should use this one:
--- A - A/Gis-- Gbm -- E
e- 0-- 0 -- 2 -- 0
b -2-- 2 -- 2 -- 0
g -2 -- 1 -- 2 -- 1
D- 2 -- 2 -- 4 -- 2
A -0 -- 0 -- 4 -- 2
E -x -- x -- 2 -- 0
Or if you want it a bit higher:
--- A -- A/Gis - Gbm-- E
E--5---5------5----7---------
B--5---5------x----5---------
G--6---6------6----x---------
D--7---6------4----6---------
A----------------------------
E----------------------------

the one that I posted is correct. But whatever you think sounds better to you, that's cool. The only difference between the record (baritone) version and the standard is in the first two chords - The rest is the same notes.

I didn't meant that your way to play it is wrong. It just didn't 100% fit for me. So I decided to find another way.
I figured out all the chorus notes from the original tuning.
The first chord has got A, E, Db -->A
The 2nd chord has got A, E, Db, Ab --> A/Ab
The 3rd chord has got A, Db, Gb --> Gbm
The 4th chord has got B, E, Ab --> E
And this is what I think is right. But obviously, You can play this awesome song in many variations, however you like it best.

heh I just find it funny how you feel the Dave Matthews version of Space Between is 'not very good' I think it's pretty good, myself.

??? If you go to the Space Between tab page, it will be the baritone version. Check out the additional info box above, the Standard Tuning can be found there. ENJOY!!!mattygp wrote:jkanter, just a heads up, the tab you posted is baritone not standard tuning (says that on front page). nice job on tab though. looks good to me. peace.

hey guys i know what you tabbed for the standard is whats on the video but it doesnt work. the song intro goes high high high low, meaning that the first three chords played are higher than the forth. Listen to the song its true. 022100 is definitly lower than 000232. I read on some page that its 4X2100 three times and 202000 once(dont have my guitar with me so i cant check that but im pretty sure thats how it goes). It sounds right too.

yeah, the bass notes on the first two chords are low E to Low D so you'd have to tune the guitar to drop D and play 2-2-2-1-0-0 x3 to 0-0-0-2-3-2 to get it to sound like the baritone (X-0-2-2-2-0 x3 to 3-2-0-0-0-3 ) sound. The 4-X-2-1-0-0 to 2-X-0-2-3-2 sounds similar because it goes from high to low on the bass notes but they're not the same notes. these two chords go from Ab to F# which are not the root notes of the chords used. Other than this difference on the intro chords, the rest is identical.
I hope this clears it up for ya.
peace,
Ken
