Essential Shows ('required listening')

Unread post by taparoo » Wed Oct 11, 2006 1:14 am

So I've been addicted to downloading shows for a while now, and have been interested in what are considered the best shows DMB has performed, and your personal favorite shows as well. (If a thread like this has arisen before, I apologize). Anyway, I'm interested, and want to add some great shows to my ever-growing collection.. I expect a few Trax dates and earlier stuff by the band. But I'm open to anything. Just the dates are necessary (not the audio, etc.).

I feel I need to include Red Rocks '95, and the Central Park concert (03) as 'required listening', as far as official live releases go. Looking forward to your responses.

And feel free to include any D&T, Dave solo, and DM & Friends shows.

Never heard it.

I would say for D&T
4/22/93
3/29/03

D&F
12/20/03

Dave Solo
10/24/02

There is way too many DMB shows for me to pick any, or to even know of any greats off the top of my head.

03-23-93. The Big League Chew show. Peter's last show with the band, the last #34 until last year and a great set.

Live Trax 3 is still one of my favorite live releases from DMB, without a doubt.
12.30.95 and 12.31.95 are some pretty sweet shows too, the last SBDs fans were allowed to have, and you can tell the band has reached a professional sound.

For required Dave solo stuff, you can't ignore Benaroya Hall.

D+T... well, I've listened to quite a few (30-40?) shows of them, and I've got multiple favorites:
4.22.93 (Prism Coffeehouse)
2.17.97 + 2.18.97 (Paramount Theatre 2 night stand, my favorite 97 shows)
3.13.99 - 2nd to last show of D+T '99
3.14.99 - last show of D+T '99, my favorite D+T show ever (Carlos Santana & Bob Weir for guests, JTR debut, awesome set list)
3.29.03 - the highlight of the '03 D+T tour

D&T 99 UCONN (popper encore)
Burgettestown 2004 (show with all the new tracks)
NYE 1994 (dave is trashed and plays a crazy good two step and get in line)

cant think of others right now.

I was at both shows at Burgettstown in 04. What an awesome couple of nights those were.
