The shit is now used with good connotations as opposed to bad. ie. The concert in central park is the shit.

In german we us the word shit (Scheiss) more for something like "stuff"

The only german words I know are schnell (quickly?) Guten Tag (Good Day?), Jah (Yes?), and Nein(No?). Schnell is used in every movie that features nazi or SS dudes in it.
