Damien Rice "Volcano" cover
Hello again, it's me with yet another cover. This time from Damien Rice the song, volcano. I really liked this song so I took the time to learn it today and this is what i have come up with. I might even play it at my next open mic who knows. Oh well, go ahead take a listen, enjoy, and tell me what you think. (I realize that my version is faster than the original)

I agree with ya, that for this song the vocals needed to be more calm and even than loud and erratic. Taking this into account I recorded another version that should be up on the page now. In this version I tried not to sing as loudly, which may have resulted in more hoarsness
, but to me a little hoarsness sounds good for this type of song. Oh well, just some minor improvements and just to be stupid I added more reverb (Too bad reverb can't fix when i mess up
.)

If only it were that simpleAbsolutely awesome job on that cover... you should hook up with someone that plays the cello and a girl who can sing-- it would sound amazing

very nice quality, how do you achieve such a high recording quality?
when I started listening to it, I first thought it was Gravedigger... 8)
very solid job on the guitar and your vocals are awesome. You come very close to Miguel's.
I love your stuff, keep it on

Ha, I think my recording quality sucks. Here is my setup, the dell mic that came with my computer, a book to hold it on top of (it has no base). cheapo soundcard and cool edit 2000. I record everthing with one track and then usually add some reverb. For some reason most people are surprised I get decent quality from this crappy setup.

hey man,
the guitarwork is so absolutely solid. very rich, and to the point. i really love how the strength of the intro feeds into the vocals that appear. The vocals are hot shit. Your voice fits the song perfectly.. watch the 'LD' sound... "world" they sort of sound like "whorl" (notice the dead d)... i love the 1:34 bridge that lasts until 1:45 -- you come in on "dont throw yourself" as powerfully as required... overall i think your vocal section is appropriate... you really have this down. you should definitely play this live... watch out at 2:10 though, the switch guitar and vocal was a little choppy but you pick it perfectly up at 2:20 =0
regards,
Xoosh

just a little side note Xoosh, I love the way you critique. I think I am going to try to adopt that style, of breaking the critique into time sections. It really gives the person who posted the song a better idea of what sections to work on particulary, rather than just a general comment like i have been giving.
