So you're amazed as to how Dave's rhythm guitar slaps and strums so "perfectly"...but you can't. Ask all things about Dave and his guitars here.

It's the Epiphone version. Dave's guitar was a Gibson. Gibson owns Epiphone, so Epiphone made a version of the Chet. It's not as good, but it's a lot cheaper.

It's what's called a piezio pickup. There's a "crystal" under the bridge, that senses the vibrations, and through the magic of technology, makes a gorgeous sound come out.

and talking about differences, it depends on what you mean. The Gibson is about 100x cooler looking, with the big star inlays, but it's definatly not worth it, because even the Gibson could use a Fishman upgrade. so buy a fishman acoustic matrix, and put it in that bad boy, and play amazing sounds.

good luck :D

the chet sst is a great axe, you can't play it unplugged, and most unfortunately a great axe will always be referred to as the Dave guitar

Has anyone ever seen anyone else play one? I've only seen 2

one was the guitarist in the backing band for some country singer chick...it was one of the sunburst ones...wicked ugly.

the other was Charlie Daniels at the free show in Albany, he palyed some gospel tune on it, but he had the tone all countried out so it sounded so twangy it almost made me leave.

anyone else?

I've seen the guitar player for the goo goo dolls playing one, completely not worthy of playing the same axe as dave. That guy always plays in the same fcuck up tuning where all you have to do is strum.
Anyways, sweet guitar and i'd love to find one somewhere(other than ebay).
